"I do all of my hiking free form. Like John Muir, I enter the wilderness with

nothing more than my journal and a child-like sense of wounder."

- Youth in Revolt (2009)

For me traveling is the part of the vacation that I love the most, its more the journey than the destination and the people and places I meet along the way.

I enjoy traveling and will post my travel destinations here.

Please let me know if you would like to feature your add here to help me pay for some of my travels. Or If you have a Hotel, Resurant, Camp Ground, or service station on the map below. Please email me, I would be happy to do a feature video on your camp ground or service in exchange for a stay, meal, or exchange in goods that a traveler might need. Free Gas from Air Miles

posted Apr 11, 2011 2:33 PM by Lee Sapara   [ updated May 2, 2011 12:07 PM ]

My Air Miles Rewards came in today!!!  I cashed in for a total of 32 - $20 Gas Gift Cards from Shell.  They Cost 175 Air Miles for each $20.00 certificate.

I have enough total air miles to cash in for about a year and a half worth of driving. It couldn't have come at a better time with the Gas Prices rising.  I plan to take the money that I intended for fuel to pay down on my Visa and Master Cards

So, I am hoping there is a bit left to travel Eastern Canada this summer!!!

VanPack 2011 - Movie Trailer & Daily Log

posted Feb 2, 2011 5:58 AM by Lee Sapara   [ updated May 17, 2011 8:41 AM ]

Below is the Movie Trailer and my vLog of my Journey through Saskatchewan, Montana, Iowa, Nevda, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Mexico.  I Left January 5 2011, and Arrived Back Home in Saskatchewan Feb 5, 2011.  It was me an my dog driving a total of 12,000 KM's, the cost was under $2,000 canadian dollars for this trip.

It was intended as a dry run, could I vLog and travel at the same time?  What kind of equipement is best suited for this?  How should I pack for extended vacations? What should I do to prepair for long road trips?

I learn't so much from this VanPack that I hope to do more.  If you like them please click the Like Buttons on the YouTube Videos!  and check out My Travel Blog!

VanPack 2011 Movie Trailer

On Mac there is a program called iMovie that does great things all bundled with your Mac Computer.  I recently got the New iMovie 11 and its got some new cool features.  This one was made with Movie Trailers, where you simply drag and drop clips and it automatically trims the video and adds background music with preselected animations!

This video was made to kick of my VanPacking Experience across Western United States in January 2011.

If you have a Mac and want to get the Latest iMovie Software automatically buy it on the Map App Store!

A Letter to Mom

San Antonio, Tx, USA - This place is one of my mothers favourite stops in Texas.  There is an Artist's Village that is Nestled near the River Walk.  There is so much arcrtictual beaty in this town and is a great spot to dine all day along the river.

This place is also home to the Alamo!

South Padre Island, My Paradise!

South Padre Island, Tx, USA - January 2011
My family traveled near this location when I was a kid.  It was my grandparents who were "Winter Texans - from Pine to Palm Park in Weslaco, Texas.

I only came here once as a child and I was sick and it was a rainy day.  There are a few of those Rainy Days However.

My stay here was during the Off-Season.  Typically from Oct - Mid February.  Then its spring break and Hotel rooms will go up-to 10x their off season rate.

Most of the stores in this area are also trying to clear their inventory so its a great time to get a deal in a store up 50% off on brand name clothes, and tourist stuff.

It was very dog friendly, the Hotel called the Island Inn had allowed a dog.  But even if you wanted to camp by the ocean, there was plenty of space to exercise your dog!

There is this nostalgic drive on the Island that goes for about 35 kilometres that leads to nowhere, but the scenery along the way is so relaxing on a January day by the ocean.  Traveling on top of sand dunes with water on both sides.

January 10 2011 - Day 5

San Lorenzo County Park

Vandam Odometer 210,906 km

Camping Cost $32.00
Wood $6.00

Park was bare but had its regular folks that camp there and look after the park.  Showers were clean but the washroom was not heated.  Cold shower but refreshing!!!
Went to the gas station and got a coffee in the morning.  For the cost I would say sleep in a parking lot unless you need a shower!

I just got started with my Travel Service website.  Check it out at travel.sasktech.net!  I hope to have some good rates for hotels and rentals.  It only seems natural with the traveling that I plan to do.  The storefront is in development and just putting some branding up.  But for those of you checking this site out its a sneek peek.  Stay tuned for reviews and links in the coming months ahead.

Have you stayed at a really great hotel?  Please let me know so that I can feature it!
