PC Notes

I'm putting this part of the website up in hopes to get out of fixing PC Computers but help my visitor prevent problems to their machines.  My best advice before any of this is to Buy a Mac,

If you can use PC chances are Mac will be much easier without having to worry about Viruses and Malware.  Check out the Mac website to Learn How it Works!

Windows is a very unreliable system these days with all of the spyware and malware attacks on most PC Operating Systems.  But, most of you wonder where they can come from..

Here is a list of places you can get viruses, spyware, malware.
  • Illegally downloading music and Programs from, Torrents - there are links that are attached to these files you download that infect your computer.  And I find they usually spread the fastest on the most popular songs.  They open pop-up pages and soon take over your desktop replacing links and search bars. (I would bet that you will never get a virus if you bought your song off of iTunes).  And on this note I would also like to add that this is the reason most Bandwidth providers charge more for Interent service when you do illegal downloading
  • Free software such as games, applications, and, tools bars - Watch while you are running the installations to anything free you download, most of them say they want to install a toolbar - do you really want to Install them?
  • Suspicious Ads on Websites
  • Suspicious Links in Emails
  • Pornography
  • Free online games on website

Prevent

YouTube Video

So if your going to own a PC you really do have a lot of homework to do to prevent stuff from happening to your computer.

  1. Pay for Music and Software - I know, I know your probably saying I cant afford or whatever.  Trust me if its important info on your computer then paying for software will give you a lot less hassel with things like errors and updates to prevent things from happening to your computer
  2. Have a Leggit Copy of Windows Installed so you can do Windows Updates
  3. Buy the AVG Anti-Virus software - I recommend it because its one of the smaller ones that don't slow down your computer like Norton or McAfee does
  4. Buy the Malwarebytes Software - the paid version prevents stuff from installing on your computer, where the free version just removes spyware after the Infection takes place

Maintain

  1. Always keep another copy of your data on a Large Enough USB Drive or Keep them online - Shit happens with Windows So much that you have to keep on this at all times, and there isn't a really good, reliable backup system that you dont have to be a nerd to figure out
  2. Its the nature of the beast that when you have windows installed that you really do have to learn and keep yourself up-to-date on new threats.  PC gives error messages that sometimes can make you feel dumb because the error messages are worded with Technical Jargon which for Nerds this is good because you can find problems much quicker.  But the problem is with the Windows Operating System is that there are TOO MANY PROBLEMS!  This really is just a result of mix matched hardware from too many different brands.  So learning about drivers is necessary in order for New Hardware to work properly
  3. Don't use Internet Explorer unless you really have to!  Know your browsers I recommend using Google Chrome - its free, safe, faster, and much easier to use
  4. Learn and Do More Cloud Computing so that you dont have to rely on your hardware!

Below are some how to's that I put together just for PC.

Malware

This is by far the best software for cleaning up your computer with spyware junk.  If that machine seems to be not as good as it was a few months ago, its time to do a scan.   There are 2 types.  The free version for you cheap people who dont but the software (which is well worth the money) and the paid version which prevents spyware as well as cleans any.

Below are two videos, 1st the free the second the paid version.  Support me by clicking the buy link and I get a referral bonus from the company for recommending it.  The only other tool needed for protection is AVG for AntiVirus and Chrome for your Browser!

This video below shows you how to purchase, install, and configure Malwarebytes so you can always be protected against Spyware, Malware, and overall performance of your PC Computer.  (This is not necessary for Mac Users)

1. I Just Got My NEW PC, Now what should I do.

Make the Recovery Disk

PC's are usually cheap and well they Dont usually come with the Windows Recovery Disk anymore, you gotta make it!

Why? Lets say your computer gets too infected that it takes too much time to fix and its best to reinstall Windows and put everything back to the day when you first bought your computer.

Thats what the recovery disk does.  Without it the only other legal way is to contact not the store but the manufacture and buy a copy from them or buy a copy of Windows with is usually more than $200.  (and that aint installing it buddy, if you dont know how to do it you gotta pay someone to do it for you.

Why cant I just use my friends copy of Windows?
Well, each manufacture makes different copies so that the hardware works properly with the correct drivers installed.  With their copy it will have different drivers even sometimes if its the same Model there are different revisions (IE. they might put a different brand name of Wireless Card, video card etc)

This process is different depending on the brand.  What I do is look for any software that says Recovery, there will usually be a wizard that follows asking you if you would like to make a Recovery Disk.  You will most likely need Blank DVDs or CDs.  I recommend using a DVD as it will probably take anywhere from 2 - 3 of these to finish up this process.  As with CDs this could take 6 - 10 of them (they are much smaller)

(Today, Mac comes with the recovery disk, so you dont have to worry about this process).  And I have found that calling in to them they dont really hesitate on replacing your recovery disk you just gotta wait on the Mail)

Once your Done Keep your recovery disk in a SAFE PLACE!!!!
