Whenever I talk about the iPad or iPhone with people, every once in awhile I hear someone complain that Flash isn't available on iOS devices, and that Apple sucks. They immediately trash Apple for this?!?! So I figured I would give some links on why Apple don't do this. I think we should start asking out programers to use better environments than using Flash like HTML5 which is open and free for everyone to use and solves the sluggishness.
Here's the Down and Dirty of It - Flash Slows the device down, and needs a higher processing power than HTML5
- as a result Drains the Devices Battery
- Its expensive to use Adobe its a Closed System
- Flash hasen't learned to Touch things right - Its designed for mouse and keyboard so the experience on touch devices are awkward anyway.
- A Video Format called "H.264", is already viewable on iPhones, iPods and iPads. Web publishers need to change how they Upload Video
- It's also more likely to get a virus to attach on Flash
